Under the leadership of Dr. Rory McGreal, who holds the UNESCO/COL Chair in Open Educational Resources, CLDD staff are building an inventory of existing OER produced and used in AU courses. As well, we are designing and delivering training for faculty and staff in the identification, evaluation, selection and adaptation of OER for adoption as learning resources in courses. The 2011-2012 report of OER activities across the university is available here. The 2012-2014 plan for OER activities across the university is available here.
For a few years, learning designers have been working with course developers on sourcing, adapting, reusing and creating OER. AU co-chaired the eCampus Alberta Advisory Committee on OER, which recommended provincial strategies. As well, we colloborated on the design and distribution of a survey of faculty and staff on OER readiness. The results were published in an IRRODL article and disseminated widely.
Plans for future OER activities are in development.
